Congressmen being removed from poll rolls, says N Uttam Kumar Reddy

Mr Reddy has begun activating the party cadre through teleconference and social media to prepare for elections.

Hyderabad: TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the names of several party workers in the state were being deleted from the electoral rolls and asked the party workers to verify their names and those of their family. The TPCC Chief added that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao might dissolve the assembly in the next month and elections may be scheduled in three months.

Mr Reddy has begun activating the party cadre through teleconference and social media to prepare for elections. On Monday, he held a teleconference with about 17,000 workers and on Sunday, he had addressed them through Facebook. On Monday, he told party workers CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao would go for fresh elections along with four other states and therefore the Congress party needed to prepare on a war footing by strengthening the organisation from the grassroots.

He said that the party candidates would be selected after considering the workers’ opinion. He assured them that opportunities would be given to those who were working for the party. He directed the party workers to check their names in the voters list and also asked them to crosscheck whether the names of their family members, relatives and neighbours figured in the voters list.

He alleged that the CM cheated the people through “fake and tall promises” and all sections of the society were disappointed with the performance of the TRS government. He said that fearing that he could be questioned by the people on streets for the failure of his government to deliver on promises, the chief minister was preparing for early polls.
