Realigned Indira gandhi road launched
The work was completed at a cost of Rs 2.97 crore in a period of nine months. It was completed before the stipulated time.
Kochi: The realigned portion of the Indira Gandhi Road (IG Road) connecting the Mattancherry Halt to the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) Junction in the Willingdon Island was launched on Sunday.
P Raveendran, IRTS, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, inaugurated the 600-metre section which forms the main road connectivity to the Port area. The road will be opened for public transport shortly.
The realignment was necessitated for handing over a portion of land located between the CIFT Junction and the Old Workshop to the Cochin Shipyard Ltd for second stage development of the ISRF.
