KS Eshwarappa PA kidnap bid: Suspect says met BS Yeddyurappa's PA

The duo met Santhosh twice at Dollars Colony before the kidnap bid.

Bengaluru: The Mahalakshmi Layout police, investigating the attempt-to-kidnap case involving BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa's PA Vinay, have taken one more rowdy into custody and are questioning him. He has reportedly confessed that he met former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's PA Santhosh twice before the kidnap bid.

Umakanth is the rowdy, who is being questioned. As investigations revealed that Umakanth was allegedly directly involved in the kidnap bid, the police have taken him into custody.

He is an associate of rowdy Prashanth, who has already been arrested in connection with the case, and was absconding after the incident. He is facing cases registered in Madiwala, Electronic City and Mico Layout stations. He has several cases against him in Koramangala station and the police were on the lookout for him in the attempt to kidnap case and a recent dacoity case registered in Koramangala.

"He had surrendered before the court on August 13 in the dacoity case and the court had remanded him to judicial custody. As his is role is suspected in attempt-to-kidnap case, he was taken into police custody after obtaining court permission," an official said.

"Umakanth has confessed that before the kidnap bid, another accused in the case, general secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha Rajendra Urs took him to Dollars Colony, where they met BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa's PA Santhosh. The duo met Santhosh twice at Dollars Colony before the kidnap bid. He is being questioned to know more about Santhosh's involvement in the case," the official added.
