Hyderabad: Vattepally road becomes nightmare for motorists
Hyderabad: It has become a nightmare for motorists passing through the two-kilometre stretch road at Vattepally in the Old City. HMWS&SB dug up the road for laying a water supply line two months ago. After the completion of the works, gravel was used to fill up the trenches before repairing the road with the RCC mix.
“The entire road got damaged when it was dug up. The authorities only did a patch work and the road got further damaged due to the movements of heavy construction equipment and this was overlooked,” said Mohammed Basheeruddin, a businessperson from Achireddy Nagar.
The two-km stretch caters to around 30 colonies in the Vattepally area. “It is a busy stretch and is active till late night. Now, it is riddled with potholes,” noted Shafeequd-din, a private school teacher who resides at Jahanuma. Senior citizens and women who drive on this stretch are hit most. Motilal Naik, local corporator who represents the Jahanuma division, said that he had already taken up the matter with concerned officials. “I have brought it to the attention of GHMC officials. They have promised me action,” he added.
Naveen Kumar, GHMC assistant engineer, said, “There are plans complete the road works after the monsoon season. For the time being, we will fill up the potholes to avoid inconveniences.”
