Guru's thoughts are being misinterpreted: Pinarayi Vijayan
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has questioned people asserting caste defying teachings of Sree Narayana Guru.
"The Guru taught us to remove the thoughts of caste from our minds. He shed it ages ago," he said after laying the foundation stone of the museum on Guru's no caste proclamation at Sivagiri on Sunday.
“Let this no caste proclamation be a warning sign to such people who misinterpret the stance and thoughts of the Guru,” he said.
He said the Guru consecrated the Siva idol at Aruvippuram to promote the idea that everyone should get an equal chance for worship.
He added that Guru was a towering personality propagating independent thoughts people should emulate.
Mr Vijayan also made a veiled attack on SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan saying some people were trying to grab power under cover of saffron and Sivagiri Mutt swamis should be able to identify them.
Mr Natesan had recently cosied up to the swamis at Sivagiri Mutt where he attended a leadership meeting, visiting the mutt after 23 years.
