Mobile ticket counter helps Pushkar pilgrims

The railway department is issuing tickets at Pushkar ghats through their mobile centre.

AMARAVATI: The railway mobile ticket and enquiry counter is helping the public during Krishna Pushkaralu. The railway department is issuing tickets at Pushkar ghats through their mobile centre and it is saving the time of the public by providing tickets instantly. Besides this, the railway department is providing information about availability of trains, special Pushkar trains and fares at Old Amaravati and other ghats.

The pilgrims who have to go on a long journey were seen buying tickets to Kakinada, Visakha-patnam, Rajamundry, Nellore, Tirupati, Eluru, Narasaraopeta, Macha-rla, Vinukonda, Ongole, Kavali, Chennai, Hyde-rabad and other areas. Guntur railway division assistant commercial manager Moha-mmed Ali Khan said that 145 special trains were running for Pushkaralu of which 73 trains have reservation facility and rest of 72 are general trains. He said that all trains were given halts at Vish-nupuram, Pondugala, Pedakurapadu, Repalle, Mangalagiri and Guntur railway stations. He said that there is good response to mobile ticket van and appealed to the pilgrims to make good use of the facility to save valuable time.

Pilgrims P.V.B. Reddy, V. Venkateswara Rao and others, who came from Ongole said that they came to old Amaravati for a holy dip and pujas in the ancient Amareswara temple. They said that they have to go to Vijayawada railway station to catch the train to go to Ongole and further have to spend at least 20 to 30 minutes to get tickets. They expressed happiness that the railway mobile counter gave thorough information about the availability of trains and issued tickets. They added that now they can directly board the train at Krishna Canal Junction railway station without going to the Vijayawada thereby saving journey time and money.
