Telangana gets heaviest rainfall, more in store till Monday

With the monsoon picking up, the IMD extended its heavy rainfall warning till July 22. Kamareddy and Nizamabad topped the chart at 14 cm.

Hyderabad: The state received its heaviest rainfall this season on Friday, which brought down the deficit from 38 per cent to 30 per cent in a single day. About 87 per cent of Automated Weather Stations (AWS) in the state recorded rain during the day.

With the monsoon picking up, the IMD extended its heavy rainfall warning till July 22. Kamareddy and Nizamabad topped the chart at 14 cm. Next came Maheshwaram mandal in Ranga Reddy district at 13.5 cm.

Very heavy rain was also recorded at Komaram Bheem and Medak districts as also at isolated places in Jangaon, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Warangal, Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Adilabad, Khammam and Medchal districts.

Two per cent of AWSs recorded very heavy rainfall in the range of 12 to 20 cm and seven per cent heavy rainfall, varying between seven and 11 cm. Another 46 per cent of SWs received moderate rainfall, 2 to 6 cm, and 7 per cent received up to 1 cm rainfall.

The city recorded 2.57 cm of rainfall on Friday night. Secunderabad, Kondapur, Gachibowli, Kukatpally, Ameerpet experienced rainfall as per the IMD.
