Poisoning could be from within Matha: Pejawar seer
Udupi: A day after the death of Sri Lakshmivara Teertha Swamiji, Pejawar Adhokshaja Matha seer Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji has said that “there were claims that the Shiroor Matha pontiff was suffering from kidney and liver problems and was also attracted to women.”
“I was not in Udupi when he was admitted to hospital. I don't know if his food turned poisonous because of the vessel used. Some say that he had kidney and liver problems. There are also rumours that he had a quarrel with a woman. His brother has said that the seer had consumed pulao. There is no possibility of any act (poisoning) by other mathas. If it has happened, it could be from within Shiroor Matha,” the Pejawar swamiji told reporters here on Friday.
The Pejawar Swamiji also made his stand clear on not returning the presiding deity of Shiroor Matha. “Lakshmivara Teertha himself had agreed that he had children (in a video clipping). How can he be a swamiji? Other seers too have raised this question. As he did not follow Sanyasa Dharma, the presiding deity (Pattada Devaru) was not handed over to him. (Seers had decided to give it only after Lakshmivara Teertha handed over the administration to a new Peetadhipathi).
