BJP gearing up for PM Modi's rally in North Karnataka
Bengaluru: The state BJP is getting ready to hold a series of programmes next month, including two farmers rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in North Karnataka in preparation for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed two farmers rally in North India after the Centre increased the minimum support price for agricultural commodities, reportedly wants to address similar rallies in Karnataka.
The rallies will be held in Koppal and Bagalkote districts. Although it has been suggested that one rally should be held in South Karnataka as well, the Prime Minister has not yet given his dates, according to party general secretary and former minister, C.T. Ravi. Party national president, Amit Shah too is likely to visit Karnataka next month as part of his visits to all states in the run- up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he added.
The party will also hold a core committee meeting on July 28 to discuss its Lok Sabha election strategy , according to BJP sources. It is readying to name its lone candidate to the Legislative Council from the Assembly as well. Following the election of its Council members, V. Somanna and K.S.Eshwarappa to the Assembly, the BJP can nominate one candidate to the Council from it's members in the Lower House, they explain.
