Osmania University B.com students get GST as new subject
Hyderabad: With an aim to improve the employability of students of commerce at the undergraduate level, Osmania University’s department of commerce has introduced the paper ‘Computerised Accounting and Goods and Services Tax (GST)’ in the V and VI semesters for all streams of the BCom course from 2018-19.
Students will be provided with an option to get certification from Tally, a leading accounting software company, at a nominal fee. Tally would also train teachers of all colleges in computerised accounting and in GST. It would provide multi-user licensed software free apart from study material to the students.
Tally would assist the colleges in placement of students with their certification, following the MoU that OU signed with the company on Friday.
With this, BCom students get an option of three additional certificates along with their degree licentiate certificate in insurance, since they are studying four insurance papers in semesters III to VI, a certificate in accounting and a certificate in GST.
OU registrar Prof. Gopal Reddy also listed the MoUs entered into by the university with international professional bodies for providing additional options to the students.
