Somashekhar made Chief Superintendent of Bengaluru jail

Anitha, who was in charge of the female barrack in the Parappana Agrahara central jail, was also accused of corruption and irregularities.

Bengaluru: In its drive to clean up the prison administration, the state government has posted Somashekhar, the Chief Superintendent of Kalaburagi Central Prison, as the Chief Superintendent of the Parappana Agrahara central prison.

Meanwhile, Anitha R, the Superintendent of the prison, has been transferred and replaced by P.S. Ramesh, the Superintendent of Dharwad central jail.

Following the report of alleged corruption and irregularities in the central prison submitted by DIG D. Roopa Moudgil last week, the government had earlier shunted out DGP H. N. Sathyranarayana Rao, DIG Roopa and Chief Superintendent Krishna Kumar.

In the transfer order issued on Wednesday, the government has posted Somashekhar as the chief of the Bengaluru central jail, while Krishna Kumar, who was transferred without any posting, has been posted as Chief Superintendent of Kalaburagi Central Prison.

Anitha, who was in charge of the female barrack in the Parappana Agrahara central jail, was also accused of corruption and irregularities and helping AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala in getting special privileges.

She also faced protests from inmates on Tuesday, on the first day of her duty as the in charge Chief Superintendent of the prison. The government has issued the transfer order, swapping Anitha and Ramesh.
