CHENNAI: The BJP on Thursday thanked the AIADMK factions for ensuring the victory of its candidate Ram Nath Kovind as the President.
Party president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed her “sincere thanks” to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, former CM O. Panneerselvam and all the MPs and MLAs for supporting the NDA’s candidate. She also congratulated Ram Nath Kovind upon his election as as the country’s next President.

Meanwhile, Dr Tamilisai wondered why actor Kamal Haasan chose to speak now against the alleged corruption in the ruling AIADMK and was silent in the past. “There is nothing wrong in coming up with allegations of corruption, but what matters is the timing,” she told reporters at the airport here on Thursday.
Wondering if there were no similar charges of corruption in the past in Tamil Nadu, she asked why the actor had not spoken then. “My charge is that he has now started talking due to selfishness,” she said.
