New Delhi/Islamabad: India has issued a note verbale to Pakistan, protesting against its unprovoked ceasefire violations and against Islamabad deliberately targeting civilian areas near the LoC in J&K. This comes even as for a second time in two days, Pakistan summoned India’s deputy high commissioner in Islamabad, alleging ceasefire violations by India.

“India has protested to Pakistan in writing. India has issued a note verbale,” MEA spokesperson Gopal Baglay said.

“Pakistan has started deliberately targeting civilian areas (in J&K)” he added.

He also said there have been 240 ceasefire violations so far this year by Pakistan, which are significantly higher compared to last year.

The Pakistan Foreign Office claimed in a statement that firing by Indian troops in Nikial and Nezapir sectors yesterday killed two civilians and inured five others.
