CPI announces state-wide picketing agitation for Cauvery Management Board

The party would also demand measures to stop plundering natural resources, liquor prohibition etc.

CHENNAI: The CPI on Thursday announced a state-wide picketing agitation in front of state and central government offices on July 25 demanding that the centre should form the Cauvery Management Board, exempt Tamil Nadu from Neet and reconsider GST regime.

Announcing the decision, party state secretary R. Mutharasan said the other issues to be raised during the protest would be the centre’s efforts to impose Hindi, continuance of Tamil Classical Research Centre in Chennai and steps for continuance of Keezhadi excavation, besides conduct of local body electons.

The party would also demand measures to stop plundering natural resources, liquor prohibition, availability of sand at the price fixed by the state government, free protected drinking water for all the people and formation of Lok Ayukta and Lok Pal.
