2011 engineering batch students can't write arrears, says Anna University
CHENNAI: Anna University on Thursday announced that it will not allow students who had joined engineering courses prior to 2011 to writer arrears as per the university regulations.
“Examinations will be conducted only for the students who are within their maximum period of study as mentioned in the regulations (UG students admitted in the academic year 2011 onwards and B.Arch students admitted in the year 2010),” said G.V. Uma, Controller of Examinations, Anna Univesity in a release.
As per the regulations, an engineering student has to complete his course within 7 years. But, the university was giving exception to this rule for last several years.
“We want to give higher priority to students writing the regular examinations. With the introduction of Choice Based Credit System it is difficult to conduct arrear exams for older students,” officials said.
Anna University also announced the exam schedule for the current schedule. “The semester (July- November) exam will be held from October 30 to November 30. The practical exam will be held between October 23 and 28,” the release said.
“The students will get a minimum 2 to 4 weeks of winter holidays which would enable them to do internships at the industries. The reduction of exam days will also give a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks of summer holidays to the students,” it said.
It also asked the colleges to adhere to the academic and assessment schedule given by the Anna University. The classes for the next semester will commence from December 18.
