Will denounce Naik if proved guilty: Ummar Sullami

A major function to explain the organisation in the wake of recent developments would be held in Kozhikode on July 27.

Kozhikode: The Hussain Madavoor faction of Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM) has said that if the government finds fault with Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, they will oppose him.

Speaking at a press meet here on Wednesday, its president C.P. Ummer Sullami clarified that if any state government or Union government find Mr Naik’s speech inflammatory or anti-national the organisation would oppose him.

“The attempt to hold Mujahid movement responsible for the spiritual extremism which caused the missing of youth cannot be tolerated. The Mujahid movements are functioning in a pluralistic society. We did not accept any policies or style of functioning of any Gulf or other countries,” he clarified.

KNM general secretary M. Salahuddin Madani lamented that leaving a democratic state branding it ‘un-Islamic’ is most unfortunate and uncalled for.

KNM leaders claimed that the organisation had a proud history of resisting terrorism from 1990 itself and had organised several campaigns exposing terrorism.

A major function to explain the organisation in the wake of recent developments would be held in Kozhikode on July 27.
