Surrendered Senior Inspectors lobby for plum posts

The City Police Commissionerate has cited administrative grounds for surrendering those inspectors.

Vijayawada: Another controversy is doing rounds in Eluru Police Range. Around nine inspectors who have been surrendered to Eluru Police Range by Vijayawada Police Commissionerate two months ago became the topic of the discussion among the police circles as one inspector out of those nine got a lucrative posting in Avanigadda Assembly segment wherein political influence is suspected, according to a few middle-level officers.

City police Commissioner Gautam Sawang has surrendered those nine inspectors on administrative grounds to the Eluru Police Range around two months ago. Since then, those inspectors have been trying to get lucrative postings in the Range and one among those nine could became successful by getting Law and Order posting in Avanigadda Assembly segment of Krishna district.

The rest of the surrendered inspectors also have been reportedly exerting political pressure to get key postings in the Range districts of Krishna, East and West Godavari districts.

The City Police Commissionerate has cited administrative grounds for surrendering those inspectors, which means the lethargic approach in addressing the cases and also other allegations.

When the police commissioner, who is almost in the rank of director general, surrendered them to Range, how come they get postings in main line, another middle-level officer has questioned, and added that those surrendered here in the Commissionerate have become pious in Eluru Range.

In fact, around 20 inspectors are put in Vacancy Reserve and none of them were picked up by the Range, he commented. When asked about the postings of inspectors in Eluru Range, DIG P.V.S. Ramakrishna said that the postings will be based on administrative requirements.

“One inspector rejected in the Commissionerate may be good at a particular discipline like Vigilance or CID or Law and Order,” the DIG said, and added that accordingly their services will be utilised.

The surrendering of those inspectors by the Police Commissionerate might have different reasons there, the DIG said, and added that particular reason can’t hamper their further postings in the Range, subject to the requirements and conditions.
