Medical entrance toppers quizzed by Crime Investigation Department

The CID officials are probing if the question papers were leaked and whether any of the candidates benefitted from it.

Hyderabad: At least five medical entrance test rank holders were grilled by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the Eamcet-2 question paper leak case.

Telangana police DGP Anurag Sharma ordered an inquiry into the Eamcet- ­2 question paper leak case on Wednesday. The CID officials are probing if the question papers were leaked and whether any of the candidates benefitted from it.

The DGP had met Eamcet convener Ramana Rao who requested the police to conduct an investigation. According to senior officials, three CID teams are investigating the leak allegations.

Earlier, Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) officials had dismissed the allegations of question paper leak as rumours. Health minister C. Laxma Reddy also ruled out possibilities of leakage.

However, he had hinted at setting up an inquiry committee to find out the facts. After the entrance results were out on Monday many candidates raised allegations that some of the top rank holders had gotten their hands on the question paper before they attended the examination.
