Andhra Pradesh cops want to shift

After the preliminary hearing, the tribunal issued notices to the respondents and posted the case to August 10.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal has issued notices to the Centre and state governments of AP and Telangana seeking their stand on petitions moved by four IPS officers of the AP cadre seeking their allotment to Telangana.

Mr Amit Garg, Mr Harish Kumar Gupta, Mr Atul Singh and Mr Abhishek Mohanty, IPS officers working with the AP police, moved the tribunal contending that their allotments were made to the state contrary to the guidelines prepared for allocation of All India Service officers between Telangana state and AP and also contrary to the provisions under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Mr J. Sudheer, counsel for the petitioners, told the tribunal that there was neither transparency nor objectivity in determination of cadre strength. He said that the advisory committee which was constituted for division of cadre had not given reasonable opportunity to any of the members to raise objections to the guidelines formulated for the distribution as they were uploaded along with tentative list of allotment.

He alleged that it appeared that the committee wanted to favour a few members of the services and the list was prepared before finalising the formal guidelines. After the preliminary hearing, the tribunal issued notices to the respondents and posted the case to August 10.
