School in Kukatpally shuts for a day for lack of water
Hyderabad: Global Edge school at Kukatpally has declared a holiday on Thursday. The reason: Lack of water.
The school has been using water from tankers for the last many days, but now, unable to cope with the scarcity, it has declared a holiday and sent a message to the parents about the closure.
The school authorities said that they have been facing a shortage of water since the last one month, but have managed somehow with tankers and because of the holidays till recently.
However, now they cannot even get tankers. They said they would make a representation to the city water board to rectify the issue. The school has around 800-900 students.
The Balala Hakkula Sangham, a child’s rights organisation, questioned how the education department gave permission to the school, which cannot even provide minimum facilities for its students.
