WARANGAL: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s dream project, touted as the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation project, the Kaleshwaram project is going to be commissioned on Friday.

The project which envisages irrigation of 45 lakh acres of land for two crops in a year besides meeting 70 per cent of the drinking water requirement of the state was made functional in record time after the Mr Rao laid the foundation stone of the project on May 2, 2016.

Health minister Etela Rajender who was overseeing the arrangements at Medigadda for the inaugural ceremony on Thursday said that Chief Minister Mr Rao would reach Medigadda from Hyderabad at 8:30 am. He would receive the guests from neighbouring states at 10:30 am. A homam would be conducted at the premises following which the gates of the Medigadda barrage would be lifted.
