College flouts Osmania University norms on fee for degree courses
Hyderabad: A representation was given to St. Joseph College by the Forum Against Corruption to abide by norms set by Osmania University, to which the college is affiliated.
The college is allegedly collecting a higher fee than is prescribed by the university. A student provided fee receipts of the college which are in possession of this newspaper. According to the receipts, the total fee collected for BCom was Rs 46,300, which included tuition fee of Rs 16,920 and library fee of Rs 560.
According to OU norms, the affiliated college should collect Rs 1,500 per year for a regular course and Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000 per year for a self-financing course, depending on the subject.
Regarding tuition fee, the university has given an option to the managements of private affiliated colleges offering self-financing courses to enhance the fee up to Rs 10,000. The prescribed library fee is Rs 150.
This reporter tried to reach the college management but they were unavailable for comment.
“We have moved criminal proceedings against one college in Barkatpura,” said a Forum Against Corruption member.
