Central Park, Vims likely to be named after YSR

“The officials committed several mistakes during the tenure of the earlier government and we will be giving importance to the honest officers.

Visakhapatnam: Tourism minister Muttamsetti Srinivas has said that Visakhapatnam City Central Park and Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (Vims) will be named after former chief minister late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Mr Srinivas reviewed various issues with the district officials at the Collector’s office in Vizag on Thursday. He said a detailed inquiry will be done regarding the irregularities in various departments.

The minister said that it is the responsibility of the officers to ensure that all the government schemes reach the economically challenged, irrespective of their political party.

“The officials committed several mistakes during the tenure of the earlier government and we will be giving importance to the honest officers. The government will earn a good name only when the schemes reach the poor,” he said.

In the review meeting, the minister said that the priority of the government is to implement Navaratnalu and negligence will prove costly for anyone if they fail to deliver Navaratnalu. “80 per cent of the election promises was being implemented within 20 days after the government was formed. There is a severe scarcity of water in rural areas and the officials concerned have failed to work properly.”

Speaking to mediapersons, Mr Srinivas said: “There were several irregularities in various departments during the Telugu Desam government’s regime. The irregularities were noticed in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, RECS, Mining, Neeru-Chettu and ICDS in the district. A detailed inquiry will be done on the same. The names of Central Park and Vims will be named after former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. Currently, we are having about 3 lakh students in government schools and with Amma Vodi Scheme, we are targeting that at least the number would be raised to 5 lakhs.”
