Anantapur: The vigilance department conducted raid on a mill at Gudibanda and seized more than 700 bags of groundnut stored in it.
Black marketing of seed groundnut has reportedly been high in the region.
The government was supplying seed groundnut on 40 per cent subsidy price to the farmers following crop failure due to deficit of rain.
The agriculture department seized 80 bags of seed while being transported to in a vehicle in Rayadurgam area in the district.
Agriculture department joint director Habeeb Bhasha said stringent action will be initiated against any illicit practices. He said farmers should get good quality seeds.
Collector Satyanarayana, during review meeting with the mandal-level officials, sought vigilance on illicit activities such as black marketing of seed groundnut.
