Potholes hit traffic on busy Hyderabad roads
Hyderabad: The road from Kukutpally Y- Junction to Bowenpally checkpost via Balanagar has potholes every 10 yards. It takes commuters an hour to travel this stretch of road. Debris spills onto the roads, adding to the difficulties of commuters. Tweets to the Municipal minister and the GHMC commissioner have been ignored.
NLN Reddy, Professor with CBIT, said that from Kukatpally Y-Junction to Balanagar signal, "the road is pathetic with debris on the route, road dug up and mushy. Especially at Bowenpally checkpost there are potholes every 100 yards. This is causing traffic snarls every time we take this stretch. We request the Chief Minister who said there won't be any potholes, to visit this stretch. Opposite Bowenpally checkpost there is a huge ditch and because of this, TSRTC buses go at a slow pace."
When this was brought to the notice of GHMC's chief engineer, he said, "The corporation has deployed Instant Repair Teams that consist of a small vehicle (Tata Ace) with two labourers with material, metal, cement and sand to take up small repairs of filling pot holes on cement roads, repairing foot paths, kerbs, central medians and replacing manhole covers. Further, it is proposed to procure mechanical pothole filling machine for filling potholes on top priority to ease the problems of commuters during the monsoon period."
