Hyderabad: Parents' posts against school transfer kids
Hyderabad: A recent incident in which a leading school in the capital gave transfer certificates to two children because of their parents’ posts on social media has sparked a debate whether children should be held accountable for their parents’ views.
“As a parent, I have my views and so do my children. I understand the school’s position when they have to take such a decision. But unless my child is behaving in a derogatory manner, he/she cannot be punished,” says Ms Cauvery K, a parent.
Schools find it difficult to strike a balance. Principal Vandana S. of Vignan Vidyalaya, which sent out the students, said, “The gravity of the decision was huge but if parents speak against the management or faculty members, we are left with no choice but to punish the ward. In a home environment, the child learns from parents so how can we expect the child to think differently if they hear their parents complain?”
