Karnataka: KS Eshwarappa alleges corruption in 'MGNREGS'

Eshwarappa challenged the government saying he was ready to prove corruption in the scheme.

Bengaluru: Opposition leader in the Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa has criticized the state government for failing to handle the drought in the state effectively.

Participating in a debate on the drought in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, the opposition leader stated that under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) scheme, there was rampant corruption with people even forced to pay commission to local agents to get jobs and funds.

He challenged the government saying he was ready to prove corruption in the scheme.

Mr Eshwarappa also criticized the Chief Minister for his ‘poor handling’ of drought relief work.
