Advocate P V Krishnaiah's arrest stayed
Hyderabad: A bench headed by Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday granted stay on an arrest warrant issued by the chairman of the AP Administrative Tribunal against P.V. Krishnaiah, an advocate of the High Court. The Tribunal took suo motu cognizance of certain averments made by the advocate against its chairman in a review petition moved by him with regard to a service matter of an excise superintendent, under the Contempt of Courts Act.
When the staff of the tribunal tried to serve the arrest notice under the Contempt of Courts Act on Monday while Mr Krishnaiah was in the tribunal, he refused to receive the notice which ultimately led to the issuance of the arrest warrant. The episode irked the advocate fraternity at the Tribunal and they attempted to register their protest.
