Helpline started for Covid-orphaned children in Rajanna Sircilla district

KARIMNAGAR: Zilla parishad chairperson Nyalakonda Aruna on Thursday announced 040 – 23733665 as helpline number for protecting children who have lost their parents to Coronavirus or whose parents are under treatment for the virus in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Aruna released a poster in this regard and flagged off a special vehicle to spread information about facilities available for such children.

Speaking on the occasion, she said the helpline will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A special centre has been established in the Agraharam of BC Welfare Hospital for helping children who have no one to take care of them. Information could be passed on about such children through the helpline number.

The ZP chairperson said people can also dial toll free number 1098, which is available round the clock, if they find any child needing protection.

Later, she handed over essential commodities to family members of a person who died due to Coronavirus.

District Welfare Association members Punnam Chander and Khaza Nazimuddin, apart from staff of District Child Protection Bhavan were present on the occasion.
