HYDERABAD: Unani house surgeons, who have been shifted to Government Nizamia Tibbi College (GNTC) from Al-Arif Unani Medical College, have urged the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court to ensure that they get their stipend.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice, they pointed out that the Health University had allowed about 400 students of Al-Arif Unani Medical College to continue their academics in GNTC after derecognising the former college in 2019. Of them, 63 students completed their final year in GNTC but they were denied stipend while it was being sanctioned for regular students who had completed the course.
Dr Shaikh Yaseen said that they were both efficient and diligent and deserved parity with students of GNTC. He explained that their parents had spent huge amounts on their education. He pointed out that even after being enrolled in GNTC they had to pay fees as much as a private college student.
He said many junior doctors were testing Covid-19 positive but there has been no support from either the hospital or the government.
He clarified that they had addressed letters to the Chief Minister, principal secretary (medical and health), commissioner of Ayush and the district collector but they were all in vain as none had come to their aid.
