Vijayawada: Following the Election Commission’s orders, voter lists for the gram panchayat elections were prepared taking help of the lists finalised for the Assembly polls, said district collector A.Md Imtiaz. He released the voter list prepared for the gram panchayat elections at his camp office here on Monday.
Addressing the media, the collector said that as many as 23, 41,337 voters would exercise their franchise in the gram panchayat elections in the district.
Of them, 11,56,141 are male and 11,85,060 are women voters, he added.
He said that as per the directions of the state election commission, ward-wise photo electoral rolls were prepared for all the 980 gram panchayats, including the newly-formed ones. There are 9,998 wards in four divisions in the district -- Machilipatnam, Gudiwada, Vijayawada and Nuzvid.
He informed that 979 gram panchayats are going to the polls except one, Chinapandraka of Krutivennu mandal. The term of office of the sarpanch of this gram panchayat will expire on July 31.
