Tirupati: Role of micro observers vital, says collector P S Pradyumna
Tirupati: Chittoor district collector and election officer P.S. Pradyumna has said that the role of micro observers will be crucial in the counting of votes polled through postal ballots and EVMs and asked them to perform their duties efficiently during the vote counting on May 23 in Chittoor.
Micro observers and vote counting staff were trained for counting votes, polled in the election held on April 11 for 14 Assembly and two Lok Sabha segments in Chittoor district.
The district election officer instructed the staff to be alert while counting votes, as it is the most critical part of the election system.
Asking the staff to ensure that they commit no mistakes while performing duties, the election officer advised them to go through the norms laid by Election Commission for counting votes carefully. He also asked them to clarify doubts, if any.
Directing the counting staff to complete the process of counting votes within the stipulated time, the Election Officer said that the strong room will be opened by 7.30 am on the day of counting.
Postal ballot counting will begin around 8 am, followed by EVMs’ counting.
Mr Pradyumna further maintained that all the necessary arrangements were completed.
