Police apprehends two Maoists in Rajanna Sircilla

The police also seized a country-made revolver (tapancha) with 12 live 8 mm rounds from Kuntaiah and Ravi.

Rajanna Sircilla: Police apprehended two Maoists of ‘CPI-ML Janashakti Party’ at the Bypass road in Rajanna Sircilla district on Monday.

According to the superintendent of police, Rahul Hegde, the duo was identified as Manuka Kuntaiah, 45, resident of Thippapur village Vemulawada mandal and Nagunoori Ravi, 30, resident of Ramannapet village Thangallapalli mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district.

On receiving information that the duo arrived in the town on orders of Vishwanath, the state secretary of CPI-ML Janashakti party to strengthen the party and to extort money from land lords and businessmen, the police rushed to the spot and nabbed them. The police also seized a country-made revolver (tapancha) with 12 live 8 mm rounds from Kuntaiah and Ravi.

Mr Hegde said, “Kuntaiah is facing trial in the murder of Suddala Prabhakar Rao while Ravi, who was a car driver attracted by the ideology of CPI-ML Janashakthi party worked as a courier. On receiving instructions from Vishwanath the duo indulged in threatening businessmen and landlords and extorted money from them. In the last month, they threatened one Vengala Srinivas and a school teachers alleging that they were sexually assaulting women working in beedi factories and girl students.”

The duo has also warned one Puli Devaiah and some landlords alleging that they had encroached some lands, informed the SP. Mr Hegde appreciated inspector M. Srinivas and constables Jagadish and Pulkam Srinu who showed courage in nabbing the two Maoists and said that they will be rewarded for their good work.
