Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr G. Parameshwar disclosed on Sunday that there was a proposal before the party to create two deputy chief minister posts but nothing has been decided yet.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with party legislators, Dr Parameshwar said that neither the names nor the regions to which they would belong, had been finalised if at all the party decides to create two DyCM posts. He also made it clear that the Congress had not even discussed who would be sworn in along with Mr Kumaraswamy on May 23.
“Such being the case, how can anyone say that cabinet portfolios have already been discussed? We have a procedure in our party, we follow that meticulously. Every formula would be discussed and finalised, these important matters have always been dealt with in Delhi not here,” he argued.
He also hinted that the Congress would contest in both Jaynagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituencies. “Our candidates are in the fray there," he said.
AICC general secretary, K C. Venugopal said, “Our primary objective is to win the floor test on Thursday. First we will elect the Speaker and then go for the floor test immediately. Swearing-in of ministers can wait for a day or two,” he said.
Meanwhile, Congress campaign committee chairman D.K. Shivakumar asserted that the party has decided to keep its legislators in the resort itself until the floor test process is completed. “We need to remain together here as it‘s a matter of one or two days and all of them have agreed to be here,” he said.
