Special cell for industry woes: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

CM initiative to receive and resolve complaints on fast track basis.

KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that a special cell will be formed in the office of the Chief Minister to receive and resolve complaints on a fast track basis in connection with industry and business. Pinarayi conveyed the decision during an interactive session with captains of industry and commerce held in Kochi on Sunday marking the second anniversary of the LDF government. “The government has succeeded to a large extent in removing the hurdles and problems connected with giving permission to application for setting up industries. The process would be strengthened further and taken forward”, Pinarayi said.

A decision will be taken in a fixed time-frame, he said. The Chief Minister claimed that the LDF government has been able to bring a change into the public perception that nothing happens in Kerala. He mentioned the national highway expansion, GAIL pipeline national waterway and electricity transmission project from Koodamkulam as some of the examples of the proactive approach of the government.

Pinarayi also said that the IT sector will be strengthened with the state planning to complete 100 million sq ft built-up space for setting up IT industries. At present the state is having 45 million sq ft built-up space for IT sector. He also said that the government is planning to create a Silicon Valley like atmosphere in Kakkanad in Kochi. The chief minister sought the support and cooperation of industrialists in the state for the efforts of the government to attract investments to the state.
