Hyderabad: Man returns boy he had kidnapped one year ago

He left a note explaining his action and a Rs 100 note in the pocket of his victim, Nelapatla Bittu, police said.

Hyderabad: An unidentified man who had kidnapped a five-year-old boy in Yadadri a year ago, dropped the child near his home in Pathagutta crossroads on Sunday.

He left a note explaining his action and a Rs 100 note in the pocket of his victim, Nelapatla Bittu, police said. When passers-by noticed the child alone, they inquired with him and he told them that he was dropped by a man. They called the police, who took custody of Bittu.

The police then made inquiries and identified the child as Bittu, who had gone missing a year ago. A missing complaint had been lodged then.

Police said that in the note left in Bittu’s pocket, purportedly written by the kidnapper, the unidentified man said he had found Bittu at Ghatkesar and had taken him home as he had three daughters and no son.

After seeing reports of the boy’s kidnap in the media, he got frightened that he would be eventually arrested by the police, according to the note. He then left the child at the Pathagutta crossroads with the money.

Police informed Bittu’s parents, and the family was re-united. Bittu will be handed over after a medical examination.

Police has launched an inquiry to trace the vehicle and the person that dropped the boy.
