Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police inks deal for smart CCTV
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police will procure 224 high-definition cameras which would automatically detect traffic violations and alert the police, through pop-ups. On Saturday, the Rachakonda police entered into an agreement with Matrix Technologies to provide 196 fixed and 28 point-tilt-zoom cameras.
Police said the cameras would be able to notify them about unauthorised parking and driving in the wrong direction, among other things.
“After the Cyberabad commissionerate was bifurcated, the area expanded significantly. With the expansion of the IT sector and special economic zones, the use of technology has become vital for security. These cameras will help policing in many ways.” Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat said.
He said the cameras were equipped with analytics like tamper detection (scene change, blur, offline, vehicle modification), and systems to detect motion, intrusion and abandoned objects. It could also detect line crossing and unattended baggage.
These analytics can provide automated alerts. Around 30 sensitive locations have been identified for installation of the cameras.
The fixed cameras have a 5MP resolution capacity with a night vision range of 50 metres. The point-tilt-zoom cameras have 3 MP resolution and cover 150 metres.
