Heat wave forecast in Telangana
Hyderabad: Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in isolated places in the Guntur district of AP. Heat wave conditions prevailed at a few places in the districts of Krishna, Prakasam and Nellore. Rain occurred at some places in Rayalaseema. Dry weather prevailed over coastal AP on Saturday.
In Telangana, heat waves were reported from the districts of Adilabad, Nalgonda, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Warangal. Rain occurred too at isolated places in TS. Nalgonda district continues to top the temperature chart. The district recorded 46.2 degrees on Saturday, followed by Badrachalam at 45.4.
The severe heat wave warning will continue till May 23 for AP. The temperatures will be high till May 25. In Telangana the heat wave is likely to prevail till May 25. On Saturday Hyderabad recorded 42.2 degrees There was light rainfall on Friday night. Areas like Secunderabad and Begumpet received light rainfall.
Meanwhile, power demand has increased in TS in the last 10 days due to the increasing temperature. On May 10 the demand was 122 million units and on May 19 it reached around 152 million units. In the domestic sector power use increased due to heat. Energy officials said they are able to meet the demand without any cuts.
In the domestic sector the use of air-conditions and coolers increased during the day and also at night in the last 10 days. Although not much power was consumed in the agricultural sector power demand in the state was increasing. The highest peak demand during the last 10 days was on May 19 when it reached to 7191 million units. Since three days the power demand is increasing. On May 17 the demand was 145 million units, on 18 it was 148 million units and on 19 it reached 152.310 million units. On May 1 the demand in the state was only 130 million units. Officials said the power consumption in the domestic sector increased more in urban areas and small towns than in rural areas.
