Communication gap with OGH, says GHMC
Hyderabad: There still exists a communication gap with Osmania General Hospital authorities over the issue of timely disposal of unclaimed bodies, the GHMC has stated.
Asked about the 12-day gap in disposal of bodies by GHMC, additional commissioner (health and sanitation) N. Ravi Kiran said they were not receiving regular communication about the bodies list. He, however said they are taking steps like creation of a common Whatsapp group with the forensic wings of Osmania and Gandhi hospitals, the health officers of GHMC circles and other staff, so that this process goes on smoothly.
The chief medical officer would be acting as the nodal officer to look after the disposal of unclaimed bodies without any delay. Dr Taqiuddin Khan, Forensic HoD, Osmania Hospital, stated that from the hospital end, they are giving out regular oral messages. With no response, a letter was also sent on May 17. Meanwhile, Mr S. Jeevan Kumar, president of the Human Rights Forum said this attitude, after so much public outcry, was unfortunate.
“This reflects the sad state of affairs in the government and lack of co-ordination in the two key government wings,” he felt.
