Clear bills, say Andhra Pradesh capital contractors
Hyderabad: The AP government is facing fresh trouble in the construction of the temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi in the state capital region Amaravati.
Larsen & Toubro and Shapoorji Pallonji, who were awarded the contract for the work, have threatened to stall progress if their bills were not paid immediately, according to AP Capital Region Development Authority commissioner N. Srikanth, in a report to the state government. He has requested the government to immediately sanction and release payments to the contractors.
The state government said that the CRDA commissioner had requested immediate release of Rs 220.80 crore as additional funds without resorting to any loan either from the government or from an agency, such as HUDCO, as the option of taking loan for this purpose was not found to be feasible in order to complete the construction of the Interim Government Complex (temporary Secretariat) speedily and within the scheduled time and to ensure prompt payments to the contractors.
