Tamil Nadu CM launches e-stamping facility on Madras high court campus
Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami inaugurated e-stamping for judicial stamp application on the Madras high court campus on Friday. Launc-hing the facility he said, "I am happy to inaugurate the e-stamping for judicial stamps application in Madras high court. It is a safe mode of paying the court fees".
He said a memorandum of understanding has been signed with Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd to provide the facility in the judiciary. In the first phase, the computer-based application has been introduced in Madras high court, Chennai and Madurai Bench of Madras high court.
He said, "those who do not have access to the internet and computer facility, they can approach e-service centre of state government to use the facility". The government has committed to develop infrastructure facility in the courts. The Government has sanctioned Rs 92 crore for improving infrastructure facility in courts across the state. The government has made efforts to appoint 1188 posts in the judiciary for speedy disposal of the cases. In the last year alone 149 new courts were inaugurated in the state.
The government also accorded administrative sanction of Rs 37 crore for computerisation of court documents as per recommendation of the 14th Finance Commission. The government has also sanctioned Rs 1.42 crore for setting up a solar power plant in the Madras high court.
Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee said the Madras high court is first to introduce the facility in southern states. People could pay the court fees from anywhere, including from home using this application through the Internet. It is a secured way of paying court fees.
Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, Justice T. S. Sivagnanam and additional chief secretary, home prohibition and excise department, Dr Niranjan Mardi, spoke on the occasion. Among others, minister for law, courts, and prisons, mines and minerals C.Ve. Shanmugam, judges of Madras high court, office-bearers of the Madras Bar Association, Madras High Court Advocates' Association and a large number of advocates attended the function.
