Bengaluru: Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, K B Koliwad, turned down demands for his resignation and put forth a strong case of defence with regard to acquisition of sites by his children from Karnataka Legislature Secretariat Employees Housing Cooperative Society Ltd.
He told the media here that his children acquired these sites way back in 2005. “The housing co-operative society from which my children acquired these sites has a provision that relatives of MLAs can acquire sites. As per this clause my children purchased sites in 2005 itself but got them registered in 2016. Hence, this is not a crime by any standards,” he added.
In response to a question, Mr Koliwad asserted that there was no need for him to appear before any court in this regard to prove his innocence as his conscience was very clear about what he had done. “Why nobody raises a question when children belonging to politicians like former minister Basavaraj Horatti too possess sites in the same locality? I know who is behind this. I will definitely find those who are maligning my family members and myself unnecessarily,” he retorted.
