Madras HC examines actor Dhanush's medical report on birthmarks

The sealed cover containing the report was opened at an in-camera proceeding by the Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Monday.

Madurai: The medical report on the birthmarks of actor Dhanush do not seem to tally with the claim made by the Kathiresan-Meenakshi couple of Melur that he was their son who had run away from home at a very young age to act in films in Kollywood. The sealed cover containing the report was opened at an in-camera proceeding by the Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Monday.

The counsel for the petitioners showed the reporters a photocopy of the medical report purportedly given to both the sides by the court. The report was categorical in stating that the two birthmarks, mentioned in the ninth standard TC (transfer certificate) of the government higher secondary school at Melur in 2002, which the petitioners had produced to support their claim that Dhanush was their son, were not found on the actor during examination at the court.

There was no mole over the left collar bone, nor was there any scar on his left elbow, as mentioned in the school TC, the medical report said. Responding to a query from the court, the medical team said it was possible to use laser to remove “a very small superficial mole” without trace. This, the petitioner’s counsel Titus argued, could mean that the birthmarks in TC had been obliterated by laser method. He would present his arguments when the case comes up next on April 27, he told reporters.

The medical report has reportedly also stated that it would not be possible to remove a scar by plastic surgery and only a scar-reduction can be done.

It may be recalled that the high court had ordered a medical examination of Dhanush to verify the school TC presented as evidence by the Melur couple.

The two had claimed that they were living in penury and wanted the court to order the actor to pay them maintenance of Rs 65,000 per month. They have now filed a fresh petition asking the court to order DNA mapping to prove their parentage and also expose that the actor and Kasthuri Raja and Vijayalakshmi (who the actor claimed were his biological parents) had submitted a fake school certificate to claim their parentage.
