Tamil Nadu jawan's body found 12 ft under Kargil snow
Vijay Kumar is survived by his parents and two younger sisters.
Srinagar: The Army jawan who went missing after he was swept away along with another soldier by an avalanche in frontier Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir earlier this week has been found dead. His frozen lifeless body was pulled from snow by the rescuers on Sunday. He has been identified as sepoy Vijay Kumar K. of Vallaramapuram village in Tirunelvelli district. Vijay Kumar is survived by his parents and two younger sisters.
“Rescue teams of the Army on the third day of a gruelling search operation, managed to recover the mortal remains of Sepoy Vijay Kumar from under twelve feet of snow,” defence spokesman Lt Col N.N. Joshi said. He added the search operation continued for three days despite adverse weather conditions.
