Five killed in Villupuram road mishap
Chennai: As many as five persons were killed when a mini lorry ran amok and ploughed into people waiting on the roadside before hitting a stationary truck in Villupuram on Sunday. Among the five killed two were siblings.
The mishap happened when three men were standing near a stationary truck on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli highway in Thiruvennainallur near Ulundurpet and talking to its driver about hiring transport for sugar cane.
At that time a mini lorry carrying pigs to Kerala ploughed into them. The three standing on the road and two occupants of the vehicle were killed. The deceased were identified as Subramaniam, 52, his brother Muthukumar, 42, and Shanmugham, 32 who were standing on the road and Suresh, 36, and Sakthi, 33, of Palakkad, Kerala who were inside the mini lorry. Drivers of both vehicles suffered serious injuries and have been admitted to hospital.
