Bengaluru: Russia introduced its fourth generation MiG-35, which has a new optronic sighting and navigation integrated system, at the Aero India here on Wednesday.

Manufactured by Russian Aircraft Corporation (RAC), this multi-role fighter aircraft is armed with new types of guided and unguided air attack systems to deal with air and surface targets during combat missions.

The company Director General, Ilya Tarasenko, said, "India is one of our key foreign partners. MiG Corporation engineer have extensive experience working with the Indian partners and clearly understand the needs of the Indian Air Force (IAF)."

He added that they are ready to supply the MiG-35 air complex to India under exclusive conditions. "These include unique technical solutions and the willingness to localize the MiG-35 production in India, once the initial batch of the planes is put into service" he said.

As for the cost factor, Tarasenko said the purchase and operation of the MiG-35 fighter jet will cost 20% less than its competitors.

Highlighting the high modularity of the MiG-35, Tarasenko said, "There is no need to disassemble the aircraft or even a part of it for maintenance and upgrade – just replacing the module is sufficient. In addition, replacement of the propulsion unit takes only 58 minutes in field conditions."
