Nellore: At the instance of Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, passenger train operations will commence on the new railway line between Venkatachalam to Rapur stations from December 25, 2019.
As per the original plan, the line was laid primarily for cargo movement. The Vice-President will make an announcement about the facility while inaugurating/dedicating various rail developmental works and passenger amenities to the nation at Nellore railway station on Thursday.
The programmes inclu-de inauguration of a new railway line between Venkatachalam-Velli-kallu and Obulavaripalli-Cherlopalli stations (part of Krishnapatnam-Obul-avaripalli new railway lines project). He will also flag off the Nellore-Chennai Central MEMU service.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu will be laying the foundation stone for provision of passenger amenities at all railway stations from Krishnapatnam to Rapuru (part of Krishn-apatnam-Obulavaripalli new railway lines project).
The Vice-President will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Nellore railway station. He will inaugurate the new foot over bridge at Nellore south railway station besides upgraded passenger amenities at Tirupati railway station (via remote video link).
He will inaugurate the free high-speed Wi-Fi facility at Nellore, Gudur and Renigunta railway stations. Mr Venkaiah Naidu will also dedicate a new booking office at Akkampet railway station to the nation apart from a new foot over bridge and new booking office at Tiruvottiyur railway station (Chennai) to the nation . This is in addition to dedicating a subway in lieu of Level Crossing No.34 at Gummidipundi.to the nation (via Remote Video Link).
