Manuu chancellor upset with university over party
Hyderabad: An annual hostel celebrations held at Maulana Azad National Urdu University on February 16 has become a bone of contention between chancellor Firoz Bahkt Ahmed and Manuu administration where the students are finding themselves being drawn into the controversy.
Mr Ahmed condemned the musical evening on social media angering the students. The celebrations, which were held on the campus, were organised by the university’s administration.
“I would have stopped the celebrations had I been aware of it. The vice-chancellor and faculty members never inform me. I have nothing against the students but they are being misled by the administration. It is wrong on the part of the vice-chancellor Aslam Parvaiz to organise the programme. When the CM KCR has cancelled his birthday celebrations, why did the university continue with the programme?” Mr Ahmed said
Danish Khan, former student union president, said, “We are very upset with the chancellor’s statement and are going to carry out a protest march on February 21 asking for his removal. In the programme, we have first paid our tribute to the martyrs.”
