LDF government has brought infra growth, says P Thilothaman

The Kollam bypass was completed and Alappuzha bypass is in its final stage.

ALAPPUZHA: The LDF government has given an impetus to the infrastructure deve-lopment in the state, according to Food and Civil Supplies Minister P. Thilothaman.

“The highway to be constructed with a width of 40 metres at a distance of 200 km in the coastal area will develop the coastal belt of the state,” he said inaugurating the celebrations marking the 1000 days of the LDF government here on Wednesday, “The road will be constructed together with a cycle path. A hill highway is also under construction,” he said. The Vizhinjam project and GAIL gas pipeline project were started by paying reasonable price to the land owners.

The Kollam bypass was completed and Alappuzha bypass is in its final stage. The productivity of public sector companies has increased and the agriculture sector which suffered a setback in the August flood has also been revived, he said.

District panchayat president G. Venugopal presided over the function. A. Sampath MP, R. Rajesh MLA, collector S. Suhas, district police chief K. M. Tomy and district panchayat vice-president Mani Viswanath spoke.

Meanwhile, an exhibition began as part of the celebrations at the EMS stadium on Wednesday. The expo having around 100 stalls will last till February 27.

Seminars and cultural programmes will be held every day. The Kudumbashree has also set up a food cafe. Major government departments and missions taking part in the expo include Haritha Keralam, LIFE Mission, fisheries, PWD, agriculture, forest, coir, food and civil supplies, health, Kudumbashree, motor vehicles department, police, fire and rescue wing, Suchithwa Mission, education department, tourism and revenue.

The celebrations will be held in the nine Assembly constituencies in the district and at least 400 projects will be inaugurated.
