Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan visits slain soldier's house

Promises job, house for Vasanthakumar's wife.

KALPETTA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, along with his wife Kamala, visited the paternal home of martyr V.V. Vasanthakumar at Thrikkaipatta, near here, on Wednesday. He expressed his condolences to Sheena, wife of Vasanthakumar, and other family members.

Mr Vijayan went to Kalpetta by a chopper by 8. 50 a.m. and reached Thrikkaipatta by road. He spent about 15 minutes at the home of Vasanthakumar who was killed in a terrorist attack at Pulwama, Kashmir, recently. Mr Vijayan informed Sheena about the cabinet decision to give her a permanent job in the Veterinary University, Pookkode, where she is currently employed as a temporary worker.

He also promised her a job in the police department as sub-inspector and asked her to choose the job she preferred.

He also promised to build a new house for her either on the existing land or at a better spot on the revenue land nearby. Government assistance will be given for the education of her children. Sheena also handed over a memorandum to Mr Vijayan seeking revenue documents for the existing land allotted to them. The family also sought a job to Vasumathy, sister of Vasanthakumar.

The chief minister was accompanied by ministers E.P. Jayarajan, Ramachandran Kadannappalli, legislative members C.K. Saseendran, O.R. Kelu and district collector A.R. Ajayakumar.
